The Guilty Pleasures joined the BSL in 2018 and have grown into a competitive and close-knit softball team. Now co-coached by Jeff Jackson and Mike Somers, the team is proudly sponsored by Club Cafe.
Founded by Justin McCoubry, the Guilty Pleasures were built on the vision of bringing together like-minded individuals with a focus on fun, camaraderie, and just a touch of competitiveness. That balance has remained at the core of the team’s identity.
With a continued emphasis on fundamentals, communication, and support, the Guilty Pleasures have steadily improved year after year. Their hard work and dedication culminated in a major milestone in 2025, when they captured the Division II Championship.
Over the years, the team has also traveled to compete in several tournaments, including two GSWS appearances in Columbus and Dallas, further strengthening their experience and team bond.
Honda North Stars entered the league as one of original clinic teams in 2003 under the leadership of BSL Hall of Famer Bob Quist. As JJ Bodner Premiums they are one of the longest continuous teams in the BSL. In 2023 we switched sponsors to Honda North and became the Stars but the core of the team has remained the same with some original players from 2003 still on the team. Currently coached by Tom Highlands, the team philosophy is to be competitive but above all have fun and enjoy playing softball.
Sons of Pitches (SoPs) is a D2 team formed as a clinic day team in 2023. Our premiere season we won 2 games total. The second year we played pretty evenly with the other teams. Year three we won it all. Year four and we're back for more.
SoPs are half-competitive, half-in-it-for-the-thrill-of-the-game. We'er always cheering for everyone on the field, no matter the team. We've formed strong inter-team friendships that make playing the game more fun for everyone in the game.
SoPs are sponsored by Floreography!
Fruit Punch started in 2022 and was the first exclusively womens+ team in the BSL. We provide a dedicated team for people who are not cisgender men to play softball and be in community together. The Fruits prioritize having fun and supporting our teammates while playing competitively and are the multiyear winner of the Team Spirit award, as voted on by the teams in our division. Fruit Punch is currently managed by Molly McCleary and Leah Mesh-Ferguson and anticipates welcoming new players to the team for 2026.

Head coach Dan Hahn and on-field coaches Joe Szaf and Mark Martinez lead a scrappy bunch of gays and theys as they look to start playing in events and traveling for tournaments in the next couple years.

Platinum was born the way many great teams are, over a few drinks among friends with a shared idea. In 2015, a small group of LGBTQ+ athletes set out to build a competitive team that also reflected the spirit of the community they loved. What started as a casual conversation quickly grew into a team with heart, ambition, and a commitment to showing up both on the field and in the community.
Platinum first took the field in the Renaissance City Softball League in Providence, where we spent our early years growing, competing, and building our identity. In the spring of 2022, we made the move to the Beantown Softball League, bringing our competitive edge, and our Rhode Island pride, into a new chapter.
Since our founding, we’ve made nine appearances at the Gay Softball World Series, regularly facing off against 60–70 teams in the C Division. We’re proud to have earned multiple Top 10 finishes, including two Top 5 placements. Additionally, our travel schedule has taken us to iPride member cities across the country, where we’ve represented New England with energy, sportsmanship, and a whole lot of personality.
What matters most to us is staying connected to the community that shaped us. Many of our players are active in other LGBTQ+ leagues, including flag football and basketball, keeping us rooted in the broader network of queer sports nationally. Whether we’re competing, volunteering, or cheering on our friends in other leagues, Platinum is committed to being a visible, positive presence in the LGBTQ+ athletic community. We're not just a team; it’s a family built on competition, camaraderie, and community pride.

Founded in the 1990’s, the Reilly’s Rascals Thunder are one of the oldest teams in the Beantown Softball League, having won numerous league titles in Boston as well as a variety of tournament championships.
Throughout the franchise’s history, the Thunder have focused on playing winning softball with friends while eliminating drama.
Now coached by Dave Nelson, the team is the defending Division 2 regular season champion in the Beantown Softball League after coming off a 15-5 record last season.
Since being founded in 1994 as the Mike’s Gym Devils, the Thunder have won more than 250 games. Led by former coach Ken Carty, the squad earned seven Divisions 2 or 3 regular season championships, to go along with four playoff titles.
Outside of Boston, the Thunder franchise have qualified for national World Series appearances in 1997 (San Diego), 2000 (Toronto), 2005 (San Diego), 2009 (Milwaukee), 2010 (Columbus) and 2011 (Chicago). The final three World Series appearances were done in tandem with the then Thunder Alley’s sister team, the Alley Gators.
In addition, the Thunder have won tournament titles in New York City (twice 1998 and 2007), Boston (2010), and Toronto (1994) as well earning top three finishes in Ft. Lauderdale and Phoenix.
Also having served as Thunder coach is Frank Mickelson. Along with Carty and Mickelson other BSL Hall of Famers who have played for the Thunder include Eddie Banks, Frank Berardis, Matt Collins, Vinnie Peruzzi, Peter O’Leary, Manny Rebello, Kenny Sawada, Billy Story, and Joey Peltier, who is also in the NAGAAA Hall of Fame.
